Kuen Cheng High School: Bringing the Nourishment of Life Education First to Its Educators

Life education is a form of experiential learning — not something that can be forced, but rather a gentle process of empathy and resonance with different people and situations.

Our collaboration in life education with Kuen Cheng High School began years ago, with careful planning and shared values. We deeply admire the school’s thoughtful approach to education and its students. In a meaningful gesture, the school chose to first offer the nourishment of life education to its educators — inviting them to explore the emotions of life and remembrance through the lens of real-world scenarios from the frontlines of end-of-life care.

“The vague, distant idea I had about death became vivid and real today.”
“The sharing from the Life Practitioners reminded me of my loved ones and showed me that life truly continues in many forms.”
“As long as someone isn’t forgotten, and their story is still being told, it feels like they’re still alive.”
“The greatest pain is being forgotten.”
“Preparing for death isn’t just emotional — it involves many practical considerations too.”
“Living as usual, and learning to accept — that was my biggest takeaway.”
“The quote ‘Don’t get used to a relationship’s presence and forget how precious it is’ really touch me.”
“If cremation only takes two hours to turn to ashes, why have I spent so long blaming myself?”
“Honor our ancestors, pass filial piety to future generations — may we continue promoting this beautiful culture of compassion.”

We hope that these reflections on life will gently support anyone experiencing loss — and that the seeds of life education will steadily grow and bloom into a systematic, lasting presence within the school.
