2026’s First Life Education Group

2026’s First Life Education Group

Sarana Youth Group is a community organization based in the Klang Valley. Although its members come from diverse professional backgrounds, they share a common path — cultivating awareness and engaging in reflective practice in everyday life.

Among the many leisure options available on a weekend, they chose something different. They stepped into the lived spaces of Xiao En Memorial Park and Xiao En Centre, intentionally setting aside time to contemplate life and death.

They expressed a simple yet profound hope: “To find a safe space without taboos, where we can reconcile with separation and death.”

The learning did not stop at understanding funeral procedures or industry knowledge. Instead, life education became an extension of personal cultivation — a reflective field in which death serves as a mirror for living. Through confronting mortality, participants explored how to live more consciously and meaningfully.

“ Learning how to live through death.”
“ To understand the fragility and preciousness of life in ways that are closer to real human experience.”
“ To truly cherish everything we have now.”
“ The most moving question for me was: What epitaph would I want written on my own tombstone?”
“ To appreciate the opportunity to live life meaningfully.”
“ To learn how to support the people I love as they face dying, death, and illness.”

Through repeated dialogues with life and mortality, participants rediscovered something essential — learning again, and awakening again, to what it means to live well.
